The weather is getting colder and the smell of turkey is in the air. It is the season of being thankful! We are very blessed here at Concordia. We are thankful for the opportunity to educate your children in a safe and happy environment. We are grateful you are choosing Concordia and sharing your children with us. We appreciate your generosity both physically and financially. Without your help, we would not be here accomplishing great things together!!
Parent/Teacher conferences will be held on Monday, Nov. 20 and Tuesday, Nov. 21st. Classes will not be held on either day. Babysitting will be provided in the Readiness room during your conference time. Sign up sheets will be posted outside of the classrooms for a time slot. Please contact your teacher if you have a conflict with the scheduled date/time.

Many of you have wondered what we do in chapel. We welcome you to join us for Chapel with Parents on Friday, November 17 at 9:15 am. We do ask that you sit behind the preschool classes and not with your child so those children whose parents can not attend do not feel left out. Please bring a canned good to school this day so we can help stock the food pantry and feed families in need. We will collect the food during our chapel service. Hope to see you there!
November is the Readiness Class' month to adopt the preschool. They will organize the Nov. Teacher Appreciation luncheon, send in a roll of paper towels, bake brownies for the Emmanuel Dining Room and help to clean our playground. We thank them for their service to our school! Next month, our school will be adopted by the 5 Day 4s.
Registration for the next session of Friday Specials will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 13th. Registration forms will come home soon. A $50 deposit will be due with your registration, and the balance is due in January when the programs start. The session will run for 12 weeks and cost $180.
We are collecting canned goods and other non-perishable foods this month to donate to the food pantry. You can put them in the bin located in the downstairs lobby area and bring them to chapel.
In December, we will collect new children's hats and mittens on our "giving tree" and new packages of children's underwear for the "Orphan Grain Train" in our Santa Sleigh. Both of these will be placed in the lobby area the first week in December.
On Wednesday, December 20th at 10 am, our 3 and 4 year old classes will sing for their families in the Sanctuary. Your teacher will have information as to which side you should sit to best see your child. A reception will be held in the "big room" following the show. Please pick up your child at his/her classroom first before heading to the reception. The show tends to be crowded and parking is often an issue. Overflow parking will be across the street at the Silverside Church or Bonsall Park. A State Trooper will be at our entrance to direct traffic and help you cross safely.
Our 2 year old classes will have their Holiday Sing-a-longs individually in the Sanctuary. Mrs. Heggan's class will sing on 12/7, and Mrs. Sims' class will sing on 12/14. Both shows will begin at 10:30 followed by cookies and juice.
Dessert Night is our biggest and most delicious fundraising event. If you are interested in helping out with Dessert Night this year, please contact Jill Rigney at firstname.lastname@example.org. Help is needed for calling donors, making baskets, picking up donations, decorating the big room, and more! You can also help out now by sending in baskets or vessels to be used for donations. We are currently accepting new/unopened/unused items to be used as basket fillers. Ideas include, but are not limited to: kids toys, arts and crafts items, jewelry, gift cards, kitchen items, cookbooks, and anything you think might make a great item for one of our baskets! If you have anything that you'd like to donate as a silent auction item such as concert tickets, sporting event tickets or any BIG ticket items, please let Jill know! Thank you in advance for your support of this event. Save the date- Tuesday, April 17, 2018.
Mom's Night Out
Back by popular demand.... Our extraordinary volunteers have once again organized a vendor party and all the hostess gifts and goodies will go towards Dessert Night. The event will take place here at Concordia on Thursday, November 30th from 6:30-8:30 pm. We welcome our mom's to come and have fun. Bring a friend or 2 as well!!
Please be very careful in the parking lot. I have received several complaints of aggressive driving and speed concerns. Take your time and be respectful of other children and families.
