Welcome back to school and Happy New Year. We hope you enjoyed the holidays and sincerely thank you for all the Christmas gifts and well wishes. January is typically a very busy month, and this year is no exception. Please read below so you are informed about the many happenings. Also remember to notify the preschool office if any of your emergency numbers or medical insurance information have recently changed. We are hopeful the bad weather and school closings are behind us!!
Registration forms were sent home this week via backpacks. In-house (current fami-lies) registration begins on Monday, Jan. 8th at drop off. There is a non-refundable $50 registration fee per child. Class choices for next year are the same as this year and are listed below.
o 2 year olds will come 2 days (Tues/Thurs). Tuition for next school year is $215/month.
o 3 year olds can choose 3 or 5 days. The days for the 3 day 3's are Mon/Wed/Fri. We will have 1 class of 5 day 3's. Tuition is $294/month for the 3 day and $363/month for the 5 day.
o 4 year olds can choose 3 or 5 days. The days for the 3 day class are Mon/Wed/Fri. Tuition for 3 day is $294/month.
5 day classes will choose either 5 day 4's or Readiness. The tuition is the same for both classes ($363/month). The difference between the classes is an age cut off. Those children who have birthdays before Feb. 15th are eligible for Readiness, and those who are younger should be enrolled in the 5 day 4's. All of the 4 year old classes have a very similar curriculum and goal- to have the children prepared for a successful Kindergarten experience.
If you have any questions about Registration or class offerings, please do not hesitate to ask. If you know of new families looking for a preschool, please recommend us! I am happy to give tours and information.
Bad Weather Closings
I make the decision to close our school based on weather reports and recommenda-tions from State Officials. For the past few years, we have been using the School Mes-senger system to inform you of weather related closings and important messages. The earliest the system would call you is 6:00 am. If it is an early morning call, we will only send the message to the number you listed as your main phone number. If we have an emergency and need to cancel close to or during school hours, we will call all of your emergency numbers. We do also list our closing on the WSTW Snow watch website. On that site, we are listed under childcare centers not schools. If you have any questions or need to make changes to any of your listed emergency numbers, please see me or email Julie Moore at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The weather is colder, but we will still be playing outside as much as possible. Please dress your child appropriately. They must have a coat, hat and gloves or mittens.
Friday Specials begin January 12th. The total cost is $180 for the 12 week session. A $50 deposit was paid in Dec. for those who registered then. The balance of $130 is due on the first class.
** We will not have specials on 2/2 due to the Art Fair, 2/16 due to the Teacher In-Service Day or 3/30 and 4/6 due to Easter Break.
Art Fair Social
Back by popular demand, this year's Art Fair will be on Friday, Feb. 2nd from 6 to 7:30 pm. Please come to see beautiful art projects made by the students and socialize with each other and your teachers. Admission is free. There will be a bake sale with nut-free goodies made by the teachers to benefit our financial aid fund. You won't want to miss this fun family event!!
Concordia's annual Soup Sale is coming up! We will hold this event on Thursday, Feb. 1st and Friday, Feb 2nd. A flyer was recently sent home outlining all the ways you can help. You can make chicken noodle soup at home for us to sell, sell soup at drop off and pick up or purchase a soup donated from a local restaurant. Please email Kristin Pedicone with questions or to sign up to help email@example.com.
Thanks to the many families who presented our staff with such wonderful gifts and cards at Christmas. We appreciate your generosity and thoughtfulness.
Thanks to the families who donated hats and mittens last month. The Hilltop Community Center was very appreciative. Many children will be warm and dry this winter because of your efforts to help those in need! Thanks also to those who donated new children's underwear to the Orphan Grain Train.
Thanks to all families who attended the Christmas Chapel with Parents. We invite you once again to be with us on March 26th for Easter Chapel with Parents.
Grotto Pizza Fundraiser
Please join us for our "No Cook Fundraiser" at the Concord Pike Grotto Pizza on Thurs-day, January 18th. You can eat in or take out between 4 and 9pm and Concordia Pre-school will get 20% of your bill. You will need a paper voucher which will come home shortly and be available on our website and FB.
Valentine's Day celebrations will be happening in a few weeks. The children look for-ward to giving and receiving cards of love and friendship. Your child's teacher will pro-vide you with class specific information soon. Most chocolate treats are not safe for nut allergies. When choosing a nut free candy treat for Valentine's Day or Easter, we sug-gest: plain milk chocolate Hershey Kisses, York Peppermint Patties, Twizzlers, Tootsie Rolls, Dum Dum Lollipops and Skittles.
