It is hard to believe that December is here and Christmas time is near. We hope you are enjoying the excitement of the season. The holidays are a great time for teaching the importance of giving and sharing with our children. Our "Concordia Cares" activities are in full gear. Please take notice of our giving tree in the lobby where we are collecting hats and mittens/gloves to donate to needy children in our area, and we continue to collect canned goods and other non-perishables to stock the food pantry. Thank you in advance for your generosity!
On Wednesday, Dec. 18th at 10 am, our 3 and 4 year old classes will sing for their families in the Sanctuary. Your teacher will have information as to which side you should sit to best see your child. A reception will be held in the "big room" following the show. Please pick up your child at his/her classroom first before heading to the reception. The show tends to be crowded and parking is often an issue. Overflow parking will be across the street at the Silverside Church or Bonsall Park.
Our 2 year old classes will have their Holiday Sing-a-longs individually in the Sanctuary. Mrs. Wright's class will sing on 12/10, and Mrs. Sims' class will sing on 12/27. Both shows will begin at 10:30 followed by cookies and juice and then dismissal.
Lunch Bunch with Santa
Lunch Bunch with Santa is for our 3 and 4 year old classes and works a little different from regular lunch bunch. You will need to purchase a ticket for $8.00, and lunch that day is included. We will be serving pizza, carrots, a drink and dessert. If your child does not like pizza, you may pack a nut-free lunch. Pick up time is the same, 1:15. Classes are assigned days as follows:
Monday, Dec. 16th - 3 DAY classes
Tuesday, Dec. 17th - 5 DAY classes
Sign up sheets will be posted at the classrooms
**If visiting with Santa is uncomfortable for your child, we suggest you do not sign up for this event!
We will NOT have LB on Wed 12/18 due to the show.
Letters to Santa
Santa loves to get mail and sometimes he even writes back! He has a mailbox in the lobby area. Your child can leave his/her letter in the mailbox and put up the red flag. Each night, one of his elves will come and get the letters. He will read them and hopefully bring us some of the many things we want for Christmas. This is a wonderful early literacy activity. Happy writing!
We will register for our next session of Friday Specials on Wednesday 12/11 at drop off. The session runs 12 weeks and the cost is $180. The choices are soccer, dance, karate and Art Factory. You will need a $50 deposit to register and the balance is due by the first class.
Registration for 2020-2021
When we return from Christmas break, you will receive registration information. Mark your calendars for Wednesday, Jan. 8th at drop off. This date/time is our "in-house" registration which means you get priority to register over new families. If you have questions about which class is right for your child, please ask his/her teacher or feel free to see me in the office. Tuition rates will be available shortly. Registration opens to new families on 1/13/18. If you have friends or family who may be interested in Concordia, please have them contact me for a tour.
Thank you to the parents who attended our chapel time at Thanksgiving. We invite you once again to be with us on Friday, Dec. 20th at 9:15 for Christmas Chapel with Parents.
Thanks to Mrs. Doran's 5 day 4 year old class who adopted the preschool for the month of December. They will provide a luncheon for the teachers during the staff meeting and will also clean the playground and bake brownies for the Emmanuel Dining Room. We appreciate your efforts!
Thank you to all families for supporting our fall fundraising efforts. Together we were able to raise a little over $1,800!! This money will be used for classroom supplies and playground maintenance. Did you notice our new stools for the children to use when washing their hands in the bathrooms? We purchased these with some of our fundraising money!!!
Dessert Night- March 31st 2020
Dessert Night is our biggest and most delicious fundraising event. If you are interested in helping out with Dessert Night this year, please contact Taylor Rinaldi at firstname.lastname@example.org. Help is needed for calling donors, making baskets, picking up donations, decorating the big room, and more! You can also help out now by sending in baskets or vessels to be used for donations. We are currently accepting new/unopened/unused items to be used as basket fillers. Ideas include, but are not limited to: kids toys, arts and crafts items, jewelry, gift cards, kitchen items, cookbooks, wine and anything you think might make a great item for one of our baskets! If you have anything that you'd like to donate as a silent auction item such as concert tickets, sporting event tickets or any BIG ticket items, please let Taylor know! Thank you in advance for your support of this event.
