It's hard to believe it is already November! It's great to see how the children look forward to their friends coming into the class each day. They are sharing, communicating with each other and having a lot of fun together. We continue to emphasize taking turns, listening when others are speaking, using friendly hands and sitting nicely in circle. We are also continuing to work on name recognition through a variety of ways.
This month we will learn about the first Thanksgiving, watch what's happening to the leaves on the trees, start working on our songs for the Christmas Social, talk about the things we are thankful for and make some Thanksgiving crafts. We will end the month with a Friendly Feast. We ask that each child send an item in to contribute to the feast. We will talk about sharing and ways we help each other, then make fruit salad together. A sign-up sheet for those items will be posted next week.
Now that the weather is finally getting cooler, we are wearing our jackets to the playground. Helping your child learn to put his or her jacket on independently is a huge help and gets us all out the door to the playground faster! If your child struggles getting his or her coat on, please start practicing this at home.
The conference sign-up sheet will be posted by the door on Monday. They are held on the 20th and childcare is provided. If you are unable to come in on that day, just let me know and we can work out a different time to meet. There is no need to change Thanksgiving vacation or travel plans for a conference that morning, so I am happy to work out another time! Also, if you need to come in earlier that morning, I may be able to meet with you, but there will be no childcare.
