Concordia Preschool Information Page

All Concordia Preschool staff members have been trained in early childhood education, and continue to receive additional early childhood education training on a regular basis. Each lead teacher has a minimum of three years teaching experience in an early childhood setting. Our staff is CPR and first-aid certified, and has undergone criminal background checks, TB tests & medical screenings.

Schedule

Concordia begins it school year in Early September and continues through the last week in May. The school is closed for a week at Christmas and again at Easter, as well as several published holidays and conferences.

Hours

* Morning classes: 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

* Lunch Bunch: 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.

* Special Programs (for example, soccer, spanish): 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Fridays.

Special Programs Information for Fall 2010

Next fall, Concordia Preschool is again offering Friday afternoon specials for children in our 3 and 4 year old classes. The choices this session are Soccer, Spanish and the Tumblebus. It will be a 12 week session beginning on Sept. 17th and running thru Dec. 17th, with no class on October 8th. The fees for each special are:

- Soccer - $168 (limited to 20 children)

- Spanish - $192 (limited to 10 children)

- TumbleBus - $168 ( limited to 16 children - if you are re-enrolling, you do not need to pay the $10 initial fee, if it is your first session, add $10)

* Two-Year-Olds Classes

- Tuesday & Thursday, 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

- Tuition: 170.00 per month

-Maximum of 12 children with a teacher and an assistant.

-Lunch Bunch is not available for this class.

-Children must be two years of age by 08/31/2010 to enroll in this class.

* Three-Year-Old Classes - 3 or 5 day programs

-Monday, Wednesday & Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. (Tuition: $234.00 /month), or-Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. (Tuition: $286.00/month)

-Maximum of 13 students with a teacher and an assistant.

-Children should be three years of age by August 31, 2010 to enroll in this class.

* Four-Year-Old Classes- 3 or 5 day programs

-Monday, Wednesday & Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. (Tuition: $234.00/month) or

-Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. (Tuition: $286.00/month)

-Maximum of 14 students with a teacher and an assistant.

-Children should be four years of age by August 31, 2010 to enroll in this class.

-Please note that you must choose three or five day at the time of application.

* Readiness Class

-Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. (Tuition: $286.00/month)

-Maximum of 16 students with a teacher and an assistant.

-Children must turn 5 by February 15, 2011 to enroll in this class.

Field trips

Our curriculum is supplemented by periodic in-house and outside field trips, such as the Brandywine Traveling Zoo, Mad Science, Dyno Safety Programs and Coverdale Farms. Transportation for the outside trips is either bus or parents driving. A one-time fee paid at the beginning of the school year covers the cost of these programs.

Special Programs

In addition to regular classroom activities, students attend music/creative movement, physical education, and computer classes. Classes also attend chapel bi-monthly. Winter holiday shows and spring concerts are also performed. We also offer classes presented by outside providers, such as soccer, karate, and Spanish. These classes are offered once a week and run in a 10 or 12 - week session. A separate fee is assessed for these programs.

Nut-Free

Because of the increased incidents of peanut and tree-nut allergies in young children, Concordia Preschool is a peanut and tree-nut free zone! Lunches and any classroom treats must be nut-free.

Financial Information

Concordia Preschool operates under the auspices of Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church, thereby sharing its status as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. An advisory board consisting of volunteer representatives from each preschool class, as well as the director and church representatives, oversee the school. We offer a 10% discount for siblings enrolled concurrently. This discount applies to the tuition of the second child. We also offer a 5% discount for a full year's tuition payment made by the beginning of the school year.

Tuition rate for 2010 - 2011:

2 day classes: $170/month

3 day classes: $234/month

5 day classes: $286/month

Registration

A non-refundable $50 fee must accompany the application. Registration occurs in early January for returning families and mid-January for new families. If a new registrant is placed on the waiting list, there is no additional fee. To hold your class spot, the next year's May tuition payment is due by May 1 of the current school year.
